Alwoodley Farmers’ Market (actually it’s a Farmers’ Market in Alwoodley!)
A few months ago a resident asked whether we could set up a Farmers’ Market in Alwoodley.
Initial enquiries to Leeds City Council and the ACA identified the major problems - space for the stalls, for car parking and concerns about insurance (“elf ‘n safety” again!)
The field near the playground at the bottom of The Avenue is unsuitable for the volume of traffic involved - there is little car parking nearby. The ACA is heavily used at the weekend so its car park is not available . . . but the Working Party is tenacious!
Oliver (owner of Leeds Seventeen Restaurant) is very community spirited (and business savvy). When approached he was receptive to the idea and soon became keen.
The outcome is a Farmers’ Market on the second Sunday of each month . . . Result!!
The first market (24th January) was a great success - lots of stalls - lots of customers! - see the photos below . . .
From now on mark the second Sunday of the month on your calendar so you won’t miss the Alwoodley Farmers’ Market
