fast find

We have now appointed our new lengthsman, Mike Hull

What is a lengsthman? (we hear you ask!)

A lengthsman is sometimes known as a Parish Caretaker. His (in our case!) duties include, amongst other things: hedge trimming, footpath clearance (both with prior permission!), verge tidying, litter picking and other things as they arise or as you request

Mike is self employed, has a lot of knowledge of the locality (see his autobiography below) and owns the necessary tools, equipment and transport to do the job.

You will see him working around the area from now on

Mike is going to write us an occasional diary or his jobs and experiences so revisit this page and keep up to date!

A potted biography!

I have lived in Alwoodley for about 40 years, most of it with my wife Linda who is a teaching assistant at a local Primary School.

We have two children (now grown up and flown the coop) but both live in nearby Moortown and Roundhay.

My interests:

If you see me working, please come and say hello!

Mike Hull - our lengthsman

So that you won’t worry about a strange car parked nearby or wonder what the guy in the fluorescent yellow jacket is doing, Mike’s car will display an ID card on the dashboard, and he will carry  a card signed by the Chairman of Alwoodley Parish Council (Dave Kent)

If you have any ideas or requests for jobs that need doing, please contact the Clerk. All the contact options are on our Contact Us page
