fast find
Next we needed planning permission and/or permission from the Highways Department. Such weighty matters
(despite the fact that having noticeboards are a legal requirement for a parish council) appear to need months of careful consideration! I thought the boards would arrive wrapped in classy red tape!
Finally we had permission from everyone involved, have chosen the supplier, worked out the design and then . . .
Musings from a member of the Working Party . . .
I can’t believe how long it has taken to get our noticeboards! On a couple of occasions I really started to think that we would never have them!
Firstly was the problem of where to site them - Alwoodley Parish has five distinct areas, four of which have virtually no free space! A couple of fruitless tours around was followed by an “aerial” search via Google Maps! We finally found potential locations and started to negotiate with the land owners (who turned out not to be the people using the land!) Permission was eventually obtained from the current users and by the landowners. Nearly there, so we naively thought!

Anyway they are finally in place. You can find out what is happening, when and where we meet (come along if you have an issue to raise) and what we are doing.
Finally our thanks to Leeds 17 Restaurant, The New Inn at Eccup, the owner of the shops at the bottom of The Avenue, The ACA and the other members of the working party who showed dogged determination to see things through.
The fifth board is in Primley Park View near the Shell Garage (never try to negotiate with a multinational!)

Our Chairman Leonard Fineberg can’t believe it either!!

A happy resident and an even happier WP member!
. . . the big freeze!
